Hassan Rashid has held discussions with David Jessup, the Australian Ambassador accredited to the Maldives, on strengthening defence cooperation between the two countries.
The discussions took place during a courtesy call by Ambassador Jessup on the Defence Minister.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the meeting focused on further enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas including maritime security, defence capability development and regional stability.
Minister Hassan Rashid also expressed appreciation for Australia’s longstanding support to the Maldives’ defence sector and highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation to address evolving security challenges and maintain regional security.
The meeting forms part of ongoing engagement between the Maldives and Australia on defence and security-related cooperation.
