Airport bus stop temporarily shifted to western parking zone

Bus transit operations servicing Velana International Airport will be temporarily diverted to the western parking zone for one week, the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company announced, to accommodate essential infrastructure enhancements.
The alteration to the network is a response to road maintenance scheduled to be executed between 7 and 13 May. Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) notified the transit agency that these repairs will directly impact the primary thoroughfares traditionally utilised by the public, necessitating a provisional deviation from established routes.
The standard bus path has been modified for the duration of the works, the MTCC said in a statement, with both the designated travel route and specific passenger stop locations adjusted accordingly. The parking zone on the western side of the airport will serve as the provisional staging area for all embarking and disembarking travellers until the project reached completion.
Logistical adjustments have been implemented to ensure that service for departing and arriving passengers remains uninterrupted. While the physical stop has been relocated, the corporation affirmed that established bus transit schedules remain unchanged, with a negligible impact expected on overall travel times.
Individuals seeking further clarification regarding these operational modifications are encouraged to contact the service line at 1650, the MTCC requested, to facilitate a smooth transition for the travelling public.
