A man who was reported missing and was being searched for has been found to have been arrested for drug smuggling.
Abdulla Shihad, a 37-year-old from Noonu atoll Manadhoo, was arrested on March 29 on charges of drug smuggling and trafficking.
The Criminal Court has remanded him in custody for 10 days.
It remains unclear whether he was arrested upon arrival from abroad or elsewhere.
On March 11, police had announced on social media that they were searching for Shihad after his family reported him missing.
According to the police, his family had said that he lived in Male', but they had been unable to reach him as his phone was switched off.
