Speaker of the Parliament Abdul Raheem Abdulla has departed for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on an official visit.
According to the Parliament, the visit, taking place from January 19–24, is at the invitation of the Speaker of the Saudi Shura Council.
Abdul Raheem is accompanied by a high‑level parliamentary delegation, including Hulhudhoo MP Mohamed Shahid, Maafushi MP Hussain Riza Adam, Fuvahmulah Central MP Ali Fazad, and Villingili MP Azim Abdul Azeez. Also travelling with the Speaker are Secretary General of the Parliament Fathimath Niusha, Deputy Secretary General Mohamed Rasheed, Chief of Bureau Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik, and Director of Foreign Relations Zuyyina Badhree.
The delegation is scheduled to return to the Maldives on January 24.

Parliament is currently in recess while Abdul Raheem is abroad. The opening sitting of the Parliament and the Presidential Address are scheduled for February 5, which has been declared a public holiday by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Abdul Raheem arrived in New Delhi on January 13 on a six‑day official visit to attend the 28th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth. He had also paid an official visit to India last February, at the invitation of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.
