Maldives’ leader departs to Germany on five-day official visit

Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu departed for Germany on Monday, on a five-day official visit to the European country.
According to a statement released by the President’s Office on Monday morning, the visit is at the invitation of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
He will be in Germany from Monday to Friday, says the President’s Office.
During his visit, President Muizzu is scheduled for high-level official talks with President Steinmeier and other senior government officials.
He will also attend a business forum that will bring together delegates from both countries.
President Muizzu is also scheduled to visit the Humboldt University of Berlin, where he will speak about the Maldives’ climate change adaptation experience, and the German Council on Foreign Relations, where he will share the Maldives’ viewpoint on the role of the ocean in foreign policy.
The Maldives and Germany established diplomatic relations on July 5, 1966. This year marks the 60th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries.
