President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has attended the swearing-in ceremony of Bangladesh’s new Prime Minister, Tarique Rahman, in Dhaka, Bangladesh
The ceremony took place at the National Parliament, where Bangladesh’s President, Mohammed Shahabuddin, administered the oath of office to Tarique Rahman and members of his new cabinet.
Leaders and representatives from neighbouring and friendly countries were also present at the event.
Following the ceremony, President Muizzu held a meeting with Prime Minister Rahman to discuss matters of mutual interest.
Bangladesh held its 13th parliamentary elections on 12 February. Rahman, who serves as chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), led his party to a decisive victory.
President Muizzu is visiting Bangladesh at the invitation of the government to attend the official proceedings.
