The second phase of “Fahi Ali”, a program to convert lights of Maldives to LED lights, has been started.
The MOUs for the program were signed between the partners, STELCO, FENAKA, MWSC and Environment Ministry today in Seneco Hall in Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu. The LED lights were handed over to the partners in today’s ceremony.
Speaking in the ceremony, Finance Minister Abdullah Jihad said that this project is extremely beneficial to the public, as the benefits were applicable not just for user but electricity producers as well. He added that lower electricity production meant lower expenditure and reliance on oil which in turn results in a reduced state budget.
The LED lights were handed over to partner agencies by Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Wang Fu Kang and the ceremony was attended by several state dignitaries.
