It is concerning if every interaction with a Police Officer becomes an act of terror: Ali Hussain

Kendhoo Constituency Member of Parliament Ali Hussain has stated that was concerning if every interaction with a Police Officer becomes an act of terror, earning the “offender” a jail term of 20 or 25 years.
He cited that clause five subsection one of the Anti- Terror Bill was highly concerning, as the under the proposed law, even minor offenses such as pushing a Police Officer would earn a lengthy jail term. MP Ali Hussain stated that overall the Bill was a positive Bill, as it includes many aspects that are relevant presently. However, he stated that given the past actions of this Government and the cases filed, there were some clauses that presented significant concerns.
He added that he did not wish to see a terror charge filed on a citizen for exercising his right to free speech and freedom of assembly.
MP Ali Hussain added that he wished to see more amendments made to the proposed Bill in the Committee deliberations prior to being passed by the Parliament.
