Kulhudhuffushi City Council officially inaugurated “Galadhun Park,” which it developed on the eastern side of the island, today.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by City Council members, senior officials from government institutions, the captains of the three schools in Kulhudhuffushi City, and members of the general public.
According to the City Council, a key objective included in the Council’s five-year development plan is to establish pleasant and relaxing parks and public spaces close to the residents living in all areas of Kulhudhuffushi. The City Council also stated that this project was undertaken to achieve the goal of developing a public space that includes various features, specifically enabling people of all ages living on the eastern side of Kulhudhuffushi to engage in activities.
The name “Galadhun” is an old name traditionally used for the area where the park was developed.
Galadhun Park is a park developed to include many different sections. The main components of this park include a dedicated play area for children, an open stage with a capacity for 125 people (specifically for small events), two public spaces dedicated to family gatherings, and a pavilion reserved for parties. Additionally, the park is equipped with a toilet block and a storeroom.
The various playground equipment in the park’s children’s play area was gifted to the City Council by the Government of India.
A total of 2,697,589.06 (Two million six hundred ninety-seven thousand five hundred eighty-nine Rufiyaa and six Laari) was spent on the development of Galadhun Park, with the work carried out by Benzy Private Limited.
Kulhudhuffushi City Council previously developed a very attractive viewing platform in the city’s Mashikulhi area, which was opened on September 10, 2025, and the City Council has also developed several other public spaces.
