National bank, Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced plans to expand its services abroad.
Speaking at a function by BML at Hotel Jen this Thursday, CEO and Managing Director of BML, Andrew Healy noted that the main focus of the bank had always been to expand its services within Maldives.
“…our growing business volumes and extensive ongoing investment program clearly demonstrate our commitment,” said Healy.
He said that expanding the bank’s services abroad will bring diversification benefits and generate revenue to support investments in Maldives.
Healy announced that BML was in the process of applying for a banking license in another Asian country. But he did not specify the country.
“We are in the process of applying for a banking license in another Asian country and we are hopeful we will have kick-started operations before the end of the year. Of course, we’ll keep you updated," said Healy.
