Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail has hinted on the idea of safaris acquiring a harbor in the near future.
The representative of safaris in the Maldives, Liveaboard Association of Maldives (LAM), has stated that the meeting with Minister Fayyaz Ismail was highly productive. The president of LAM, Ahmed Shahid, exclaimed that the best news received from the meeting was the Minister’s guaranteed promise of safaris obtaining a harbor.
“We are known among people as the industry with no harbor. It has been in this state for 11 years. However, a new hope has been established after the meeting with the Economic Minister. That’s why we perceive the new Ministry with high expectations,” said Shahid
Shahid further stated that the new Economic Ministry is well informed about the tribulations faced within the Safari Industry. Therefore, they are expecting excellent solutions to be implemented in the upcoming future.
“We further discussed the prospects of empowering individuals to establish themselves in the industry. We also talked about the possibility of establishing minimum wage”
The Safari Industry is a crucial component of the Tourism Industry in the Maldives. However, the difficulties faced within the industry are often unheard of; many complaints are present about the lack of a harbor in the industry. Due to the lack of a harbor, these million dollar safaris get a lot of damage.
