Speaker of Parliament Abdullah Shahid has met with former President Mohamed Nasheed late last night.
Reporters of Sun Online saw Shahid leave Nasheed’s residence M. Yaagoothuge at around 1:15am.
When contacted about this meeting, Shahid told Sun Online that he met with Nasheed because Nasheed plans to go abroad tomorrow for medical treatment for his father. Shahid said that Nasheed is a close friend of his since school years.
He said that no discussions took place in relation to the parliament or political parties.
“The meeting had nothing to do with the parliament or my own party. We are close friends since school years,” Shahid said.
