Maldives restrict entry of any person traveling from or transiting via China

The government of Maldives has decided to adopt additional border control measures as a safeguard against novel coronavirus.
At a press conference held, the announcement was made by the Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed. Having carefully considered the current status of the rapid escalation and the spread of novel coronavirus in China and internationally, the government of Maldives has decided to implement additional border control measures, said the tourism minister.
Under the new measures being implemented the government of Maldives will restrict the entry to Maldives of any person who has left or transmitted through mainland China effective from February 3, 2020. However, exceptions will be made in the case of Maldivian citizens.
The government of Maldives stressed these additional border control measured are being taken as a matter of precaution to public health and safety and are temporary in nature.
