In the special operation conducted in Laamu atoll by the Police، Police has arrested 64 expatriates working illegaly at Laamu atoll، Police reports.
The expatriates working illegally were arrested in an operation conducted in Laamu Gan، Fonadhoo and Maamendhoo.
Police have checked and queried 177 expatriates so far، and arrested 64 of them; who were all citizens of Bangladesh.
South Central Police division’s commander chief inspector of Police Ahmed Shakir said that the operation was a the special operation conducted to reduce the crime rate in Laamu atoll.
He further said that the operation is a successful operation and Police aims to conduct such operations in the future. Shakir has expressed gratitude towards the citizens of Laamu atoll for their support given in conducting operations.
Shakir said that steps will be taken to the employers of the illegal workers.
L.Gan Police station is making arrangements to send illegal workers to immigration.
