Islamic Ministry has begun preparations to conduct an international symposium in collaboration with Malaysia’s Islamic Universities.
Speaking to Miadhu, Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed Ziyad Baqir said the symposium will be held early next year, adding that Malaysian parties will come to Maldives after Eid holidays. Dr. Ziyad said scholars from various nations will be participating in the symposium.
“In addition, Islamic Ministry and the judiciary is also planning to conduct an international symposium on Islamic shariah and laws,”
He also said the Ministry will conduct two workshops to increase religious awareness. The workshops will be held in collaboration with Islamic nations for religious scholars and imams. Dr. Ziyad said the Ministry was in discussions with popular religious scholars to conduct religious awareness programs.
Dr. Ziyad said no reports had been filed with the Ministry regarding rumors that incorrect information regarding Islam had been disseminated in major schools in the country.
He said the Ministry was working to provide information on religious issues and will hold a symposium for students in September or October. Minister noted that many students attended the ihya forums.
