Civil Court denies Nasheed’s lawsuit against Hulhumale’ Court

Civil Court on Monday had sentenced that it cannot adjudicate the lawsuit of ex-President Mohamed Nasheed questioning the legitimacy of the Judges’ bench of Hulhumale’ Magistrate Court.
The lawsuit was filed on Nasheed’s behalf in February this year.
The verdict of Civil Court states that the court cannot issue a ruling against the judges’ bench of Hulhumale’ Court، as it was assigned by the Supreme Court.
Nasheed’s legal team filed the lawsuit previously in High Court، which also issued a verdict stating it cannot adjudicate the case.
The case of Nasheed in Hulhumale’ Court was withdrawn by the State and was later sent to Criminal Court against Nasheed on terrorism charges.
Ex-President Mohamed Nasheed has been found guilty of terror charges، and has been sentenced to 13 years in prison.
