RTL service launched in Baa Atoll ahead of month’s end as pledged by President

Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry service has been launched in Baa Atoll before the end of the month as pledged by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Transport Ministry, via a post on X on Monday, said RTL ferry service has been launched in Baa Atoll, linking all 13 residential islands in the atoll.
The Ministry, in a post on X four days earlier, said the service will be provided free-of-charge from Monday to August 3rd to allow residents to familiarize themselves with the service.
The service will be ticketed starting from August 4th.
Transport Ministry said residents can seamlessly book their tickets via RTL website and mobile application starting from August 1st.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced that RTL ferry service will be launched in Baa Atoll before end of July via a post on X on June 26th.
The Integrated National Public Ferry Network is a crucial project launched during the last MDP administration to interlink the Maldivian atolls via a high-speed ferry network. The project is being carried out in three phases, with the atolls grouped into six zones overall, and each phase focusing on specific zones.
The commencement of RTL high-speed ferry service in Baa Atoll will see the service launched at all atolls under Zone 2 in the Integrated National Public Ferry Network, with the service already available in Noonu and Raa Atoll.
According to the Ministry, efforts are underway to expand the services to the four atolls under Zone 3.
RTL services are provided by state-owned Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
