President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has confirmed that 96 establishments fronting as legitimate businesses have been shut down, as part of an ongoing operation to curb indecent practices.
In a statement shared on his official X account, the President noted that the operation commenced on 9 December 2025. The initiative targets establishments that, despite holding business licences, continue to engage in immoral and unlawful conduct.
The President described it as a concerning and regrettable reality that such operations persist due to the continued patronage.
He emphasised that indecent and immoral practices can only be effectively addressed through a collective social and moral conscience that firmly rejects such behaviour. The President further expressed his hope for the development of a society free from such vices.
