According to the latest tourism update report released by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment (MoTE), over 60,000 tourists have visited Alif Dhaalu Atoll so far this year.
Data shows, in total, 689،264 travellers have visited the Maldives by 8th April. The majority of the tourists within this period came from China.
The report also details the number of tourists per atoll, with most tourists opting to stay in resorts and guesthouses within Kaafu Atoll. As such Kaafu Atoll leads at 291,301 visitors, Alif Dhaalu Atoll is in second place at 60,863 tourists. Raa Atoll comes in third at 50,522 tourists.
The data shows that the atolls least frequented by tourists are Thaa, Faafu and Haa Dhaalu Atoll. At present, 64,138 beds have been open to tourists, with the highest number at Kaafu, Alif Dhaalu and Raa Atoll.
While over 600,000 tourists have visited the country, 69 percent stayed in resorts, 25.9 percent in guesthouses, 2.8 percent in hotels and 2.2 percent on safaris.
