Dhivehi Language Academy hosts book exhibition in Addu City

The Dhivehi Language Academy has organised a vibrant book exhibition in Maradhoo, Addu City, showcasing literary works dedicated to preserving and enriching the nation’s linguistic heritage.
The exhibition was inaugurated by the Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage, Adam Naseer Ibrahim, who emphasised the importance of fostering a love for the Dhivehi language among the younger generation.
During the event, the Minister unveiled “Basfilaa”, a meticulously crafted Dhivehi dictionary produced by students of Hiraa School in Addu City. The dictionary aims to expand vocabulary and serve as a valuable resource for Dhivehi language enthusiasts.
The Minister is currently on an official visit to Addu City to participate in this year’s prestigious official Poets’ Ceremony. Ahead of the ceremony, he held a special meeting with Hassan Labeeb, a distinguished poet being honoured at the event. The discussion, attended by members of Labeeb’s literary association, highlighted the contributions of local poets to Dhivehi literature.
To further celebrate poetic expression, a special gathering titled “Lhenveringe Gunzaru” was held, bringing together poets, literary enthusiasts, and the general public. The event featured recitations, discussions, and exchanges of creative works, fostering a deeper appreciation for Dhivehi poetry.
Officials emphasised that such initiatives are vital in promoting Dhivehi literature and ensuring its legacy thrives in the modern era.
