Bank of Maldives (BML), on Friday, organized a fishing trip with an all-female crew to celebrate International Women's Day.
Including female BML staff and some women from Gemanafushi island of Gaaf Dhaalu Atoll, a total of 30 women participated in the fishing trip.
While the fishing trip kicked off early on Friday morning with the crew snorkelling for baitfish, the women managed to catch 300 kilograms of fish within just two hours.
After fishing, the crew then smoked the catch and prepared Rihaakuru (fish paste).
Deputy CEO Aishath Noordeen expressed gratitude to the Fisherman's Association of Maldives (MFA) for their help in organizing and executing the event.
BML also carried out several other activities on the occasion of Women's Day. This included making donations to the Family Legal Clinic and Women In Tech, two organizations that work to improve women's status in society.
