BML Inaugurates New Islamic Banking Headquarters

Bank of Maldives (BML) has widened its Islamic Banking arm with the opening of its new headquarters at H. Zoneyria, Boduthakurufaanu Magu.
The new modern headquarters is solely dedicated to Islamic Banking services provides the opportunity to better serve BML Islamic’s growing customer base. The new premises was inaugurated by the Minister of Finance, Ibrahim Ameer, at a ceremony tonight.
The new headquarters will provide counter services for transactions with a range of financial services for both individuals and businesses. In addition to that, the Customer Advice Centre at the facility will provide professional advice on Shari’ah compliant financial solutions for both personal and business requirements. The headquarters also has a 24-hour self-service ATM center which can for withdrawals and deposits.
“With the largest Islamic banking network in the country, this is an exciting and progressive development for us that allows us to address the banking needs of our customers better than before.” Speaking at the opening ceremony, BML’s CEO and Managing Director, Tim Sawyer said.
BML Islamic is fully Shari’ah-compliant and offers a full range of Shari’ah compliant alternatives to all of its conventional products. The services have been developed according to international standards and best practices for Islamic Banking. Customer deposits are maintained in a separate fund that is utilized exclusively for Shari’ah-compliant purposes. This process is overseen by the Bank’s Shari’ah Advisory Committee, which includes internationally recognized experts.
