Reciting Quran and teaching Quran to others is indeed a very rewarding act. Some people teach others for free while others do it for money.
Abdu Rahman from N.Henbadhoo is one such person. He teaches Quruan، is an Imaam and also is a former island chief. Abdu Rahman 75، said that he has been teaching Quran in the island for 23 years now. He said that he first started teaching Quran at the mosque by a request of Mauhadh.
” Starting from 1993، I taught at the mosque، later the classes were held at home” said Abdu Rahman. Abu Rahman runs a Quran class in his home. Right now there are 30 students enrolled at the class. He said that he teaches from ages 5 to 10 and even teenagers.
Abdu Rahman said that he first started 5 Rufiyaa per student. Then later it changed to 20 and now he charged 50 Rufiyaa per student. Abdu Rahman said that many of his students take part in Quran competitions and even win top positions.
” When my students win at competitions I really get happy” said Abdu Rahman. Abdu Rahman noted that most of the young people in the island learned how to recite Quran from him.
