"The entering of my 'brother' to the political arena serves as great motivation, as I am his biggest supporter", said MP Jabir, in his tweet.
He added, "[Meyna Hassan is] Maldives' number one legend".
Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party translates to Maldivian People’s Party and as of 21 July 2005, is the second political party to be formally registered in Maldives. Although DRP was founded by former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, he left the party in 2011.
Gayoom was succeeded first by Ahmed Thasmeen Ali, then Mohamed Nasheed (Colonel). Then in July 2019, a council meeting unanimously bestowed party leadership to Abdulla Jabir, long-time parliamentarian and famed businessman.
