Harvesting few sea cucumbers not enough to revive economy, says Yamin

During a campaign rally, Yamin said that the country needs much better revenue generators than the mari-culture policy announced by MDP. He attributed the present state of the economy to poor government policies, and pledged to give the economy back to the people during a PPM government. According to Yamin, Maldives had not only lost stability, women's rights and justice, but "there is nothing that hasn't been lost." People must think about what the candidates have done when the opportunity was given, he said referring to MDP presidential candidate and former president Mohamed Nasheed. "I find it really amusing when president Nasheed speaks about justice. Reviving the economy and reducing unemployment cannot be achieved just by harvesting a few sea cucumbers," Yamin said.
