Nadella’s New Harbour Development Awarded to Heavy Force Pvt Ltd

The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has awarded the construction of Nadella’s new harbour in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll to Heavy Force Private Limited.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Abdullah Muththalib on behalf of the Ministry, and Managing Director of Heavy Force Private Limited, Ibrahim Zameer on behalf of the company.
The scope of the project includes the excavation of 82,080 cubic metres of sand from the island’s lagoon to form the harbour basin, along with the dredging of an additional 19,600 cubic metres to create a new canal. A further 3,900 cubic meters will be removed from the existing basin, and 16,000 cubic meters from the existing canal. In total, 48,850 cubic meters of land will be reclaimed.
The harbour project also includes 277.7 metres of revetment, 105 metres of canal footing, 17 metres of breakwater and 188 metres of groynes. In addition, 534 meters of quay wall and 534 meters of scouring apron will be constructed. The installation of 10 mooring buoys, 11 metres of ramp, six canal lights and 18 harbour lights, as well as 2660 square metres of pavement will be laid as part of the project.
The project has a contract value of USD 5.1 million and must be completed within 450 days.
