Weather conditions across the Maldives continues to worsen with the southwest monsoon (wet season), with rough seas expected for the parts east of Male’.
According to the Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office), weather conditions are expected to become significantly intense in the next three days. Central and northern parts of Maldives are expected to be hit with strong gusts and rough seas, MET added.
The weather forecast authority has cautioned everyone towards this change and requested to be cautious of their weather alerts ahead of any travels.
Southern parts started observing the wet season on May 8th, after which the region has experienced bad weather conditions. Generally, the southern parts begin observing the change in season first before it moves towards central and northern parts.
