Yazmeed Mohamed Appointed as Vice-President of JSC

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has elected commission member Yazmeed Mohamed as its Vice-President.
Yazmeed was elected as the Vice-President of the JSC following the resignation of High Court Judge Mohamed Niyaz from the position.
Yazmeed Mohamed is the only member appointed to the commission by the President.
Article 158 of the Constitution specifies that the JSC is composed of ten members, including the Speaker of Parliament, a representative from the Parliament, a representative of the President, Supreme Court Justice, a High Court Judge, a lower court judge, a representative of the general public approved by Parliament, Civil Service Commission (CSC) President, the Attorney General and a representative of the legal profession.
The current members are its President, Member of Parliament Hussain Riza Adam, Vice-President and President’s Representative Yazmeed Mohamed, Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Supreme Court Justice Hussain Shaheed, High Court Judge Mohamed Niyaz, Lower Court Judge Farhad Rasheed, Representative of the general public approved by Parliament Idris Fauzy, CSC President Mohamed Mujthaz, Attorney General Ahmed Usham and representative of lawyers, Ali Abdul Latheef.
