Exhibition on the China Silk Road tradition of merchant sea travels has opened

An exhibition displaying the tradition of sea travels of the Chinese Silk Road has been opened in the Maldives. The exhibition was organized by the Chinese embassy in the Maldives and is being held at the National Museum. The exhibition was opened by the Education Minister, Dr. Aishath Shiham and the Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Wang Fukang. The items displayed at the exhibition titled “Amazing Blue” include samples of different ships used by Chinese merchants in different eras and some of ceramic products sold by the Chinese around the world along with some of the tools used on ancient ships and some historic items. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Education minster Dr. Shiham said that President Yamin Abdul Gayoom has made a high priority of strengthening the 40-year-old diplomatic ties with China. And she noted the Chinese aid is fulfilling some of the election promises of the President on social developments. The Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives, Wang Fukang also spoke at the ceremony saying that it was an important exhibition displaying the historic transactions between China and the Maldives.
