Biggest injustice is detaining one on suspicion of a crime: Ali Hussain

Kendhoo Constituency Member of Parliament and lawyer, Ali Hussain has stated that the biggest injustice towards a person is detaining that person on the suspicion of a crime.
He made the statement speaking in the rally held on Thursday night in Artificial Beach, as part of the series of rallies held under the banner “Ending Injustice”. Ali Hussain stated that this was not his personal opinion but that which is written in the Constitution of the country.
He noted that this was the exact ruling issued by Supreme Court and asked the public to view the 29th ruling issued by the Court in 2010.
Ali Hussain stated that freedom of assembly was a fundamental right granted by the Constitution and a person exercising that right cannot be deemed as having broken the law.
“Protesting for the rights of the people is a basic fundamental right in the Constitution. If that right is in place, the protesters would not have to spend 25 days in jail,” he said.
Ali Hussain stated that in the event the public believed that their rights have been deprived and injustice had taken root in the society, the only way to make the Government listen would be to take to street and raise the public’s voice.
He stated that usually, protesters flocked to the streets for a short while at designated hours. Therefore, it was expected that some of the public would be inconvenienced by the protest. However, Ali Hussain stressed that the protesters were carrying out a work that was a far important national issue.
