Minister of Defense and National Security Adam Shareef Umar has stated that the Armed Forces were strongly united and cannot be easily divided.
Speaking in the ceremony held tonight in Kalhuthukkalaa Koshi to mark the 124th Anniversary of Armed Forces, the Minister said it would be impossible for any dissenter will not be able to easily divide the ranks.
Adam Shareef said the welfare and development of the Armed Forces were a high priority, adding the President had facilitated a scheme where the retired service personnel can serve in Government offices.
He also announced that two helicopters pledged by the Indian Government will arrive in the Maldives in two days, which will be used in monitoring the Maldives.
Minister Adam Shareef said the explosion aboard the Finifenmaa last year was a major public relations disaster for the Forces. At that critical status, he said it was the President who had intervened and worked to protect the Armed Forces. “I believe this was a great endeavor on the President’s part,” he said.
In his address, Minister Adam Shareef had thanked India and America for their assistance to the nation’s defense sector.
