Home Minister Azleen Ahmed has urged drug smugglers to stop smuggling saying that now they have installed a full body scanner at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport.
Speaking at a ceremony held to officially start using the scanner, Azleen said that this scanner is a state of the art modern scanner. Azleen said that because of this scanner, it will be very easy to identify drug smugglers. He said that the best course of action for smugglers would be to stop smuggling drugs.
Azleen said that as per the ant-narcotics legislation the machine should be kept at the airport before 2018 but the government kept the machine early to show government’s seriousness in combating the drug problem in Maldives.
