Former President and opposition leader Mohamed Nasheed said Tuesday night that he will be arrested after deciding the court case against him for detaining criminal court chief justice Abdulla Mohamed.
Nasheed made his statement during MDP national council meeting held Tuesday night at Male’ City Council secretariat.
He said he will endure the adversity and battering، despite spending time at the jail would be extremely discomforting.
Former Presiden further said although being jailed، he hope the members of the party would let him remain the leader. “Members of MDP are sensible. I will be jailed by next week after the trial. But will endure the hardship. I request from members to let me have the chance to spend days in jail remaining as the leader of the party.”
The national council of MDP was held Tuesday night for showing party’s concerns over the arrest of former Defence Minister Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim during early hours of Tuesday.
