President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has dismissed Mohamed Sameer from his position as a presidential appointee to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and appointed Yazmeed Mohamed as his replacement.
The President's Office confirmed the change today but did not provide any specific reasons for the decision.
The reshuffle comes amid speculation that the government may be preparing to file cases against certain Supreme Court judges.
JSC is currently chaired by Maafushi MP Hussain Riza, a member of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC). Other key members include Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Supreme Court Judge Husnu Suood, and Attorney General Ahmed Usham.
As the body responsible for overseeing and holding judges accountable, the JSC plays a crucial role in judicial oversight and ensuring the integrity of Maldives judiciary.
