Moms Aid has launched its annual ‘Ramadan Aid’ campaign, aiming to support 300 families in need across the Maldives during the upcoming holy month.
The organisation, which has been assisting vulnerable families since 2019, said this year’s campaign focuses on providing relief, hope and social security to households facing financial hardship.
A key component of the initiative is the distribution of “care baskets”, essential food packs valued at MVR 1,200 and tailored to Ramadan dietary needs and habits. Moms Aid said the baskets are designed to ensure families have the basic items required throughout the month.
In addition, the public can sponsor Iftar packs for just MVR 75, helping families access nutritious meals for breaking the fast.
“The month of Ramadan is a time to reflect on our actions and promote compassion and generosity. Through this campaign, we hope to ease the hardships faced by families in need and further instill the spirit of helping each other,” said Zain Zareer, Director of Operations at Moms Aid.
Over the years, the organisation’s Ramadan initiative has grown into a community‑building effort that goes beyond food assistance, fostering solidarity and supporting families who continue to struggle with long‑term economic challenges.
Beneficiaries are selected through a verification process to ensure aid reaches those most in need.
Moms Aid said the campaign is now open for public participation, inviting individuals, groups and institutions to contribute. All donations will be used directly to prepare care baskets and meet the essential needs of families during Ramadan.
The organisation noted that even small contributions can make a meaningful difference, urging the public to support the campaign so that no family is left without assistance this Ramadan.
