The Chinese government has provided $4.2 million to the Maldives, to strengthen military ties between the two countries.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony at Coast Guard Building this morning, by Minister of Defence Major General (Retired) Moosa Ali Jaleel, and Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Wang Fukang.
Minister of State for Defence Mohamed Zuhair said that the defence ministries of both countries will hold discussions and establish a policy, on how to utilise the money.
Speaking at the ceremony, Defence Minister Moosa Ali Jaleel noted Ambassador Fukang’s role in facilitating this aid to the Maldives, and thanked him for his efforts.
