The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bank of Maldives Ltd (BML) Andrew Healy announced Thursday that they are trying to expand the bank by opening a branch abroad.
During a press conference held at Hotel Jen, Healy said that this expansion would be highly advantageous and would largely increase the revenue of investors in the Maldives.
Ha said that they are currently preparing to request for a banking license in an Asian country, and that they are aiming to start the project by the end of this year.
Though he had not given further details about the location of the new branch, Mihaaru has found out that it would be in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka.
The largest bank in the Maldives, BML has 34 banking centres and 34 self-service centrss in 20 atolls across the country.
