First Lady Sajidha has announced the establishment of a non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on tackling social issues in the Maldives.
The First Lady announced the establishment of the NGO while speaking at the Committee Meeting at the 7th Edition of the Merck Foundation First Ladies Initiative (MFFLI) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
She gratitude to the Merck Foundation for their close collaboration in advancing healthcare capacity-building in the Maldives and credited the Foundation as a source of inspiration for her initiative.
The First Lady also shared an overview of activities and initiatives that she has led over the past year and a half in a video presentation.
No further information has been shared regarding NGO.
First Lady Sajidha returned to Male’ after attending MFFLI earlier today. 
She has previously worked in the health sector.
Notably, former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom’s wife, Fathimath Ibrahim, had also established an NGO, ‘Sadhagath Foundation’, during his administration, focused on similar work.
