A search is ongoing in Addu City for two boys lost at sea while swimming.
According to Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) three boys had gone swimming near “Koattey”, a protected area in Hithadhoo, Addu City.
One of the boys was found while Hithadhoo firefighters were searching for them. Sixteen year-old Raif Ali is now being treated at Hithadhoo regional hospital and is doing well.
The search for the 14-year old Ali Fahmee and Mayaameen Ali is still ongoing with MNDF officers, police and locals. The Indian helicopter in Gan is also being used.
The boys had reportedly gone for a swim after football practice around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Mayaameen’s mother said that they will not lose hope of finding both her son and the other boy lost with him.
While there are no official confirmations, there are reports that a t-shirt has been found by one of the searching teams which is believed to be of one of the boys.
