President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of sympathy to the Prime Minister of India, His Excellency Narendra Modi, following the derailing of the Patna-Indore express near Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh this morning.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“It is with deep sorrow that I learnt of the derailing of the Patna-Indore express near Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh this morning, causing the loss of many innocent lives and injuring many more.”
“At this time of grief, the Government and the people of the Maldives join me in conveying our profound sympathy to you, the Government and to the people of India, and in particular, to those directly affected by this accident. The people of Maldives as always, stand in solidarity with the Government and the people of India, and pray for every success in the recovery efforts.”
“Please also convey our sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.”
