Switzerland police seize IT data from FIFA headquarters

FIFA has handed over computer data to Swiss police officials who are investigating the World Cup bids for 2018 and 2022.
The data had been seized from FIFA headquarters located in Zurich، from offices including that of its President Sepp Blatter as well.
In the meantime، FIFA told reporters that it had fully cooperated with authorities in providing any required information from them.
Last month Swiss police stated that they were looking into how the upcoming 2018 and 2022 World Cup hosts were allocated.
Meanwhile United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had also initiated an investigation into corruption at FIFA. So far the authorities have indicted 14 individuals for various corruption charges، with nine out of the lot are current or former officials of FIFA.
In addition to this، it is believed that IT data was collected from the offices of secretary general Jerome Valcke and the organization’s financial chief Markus Kattner by the Swiss authorities.
FIFA had reiterated that it had urged the inquiry and according to Swiss Attorney General، the football federation is the “injured party.”
