President Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that he does not give much importance to the statements of former President Mohamed Nasheed.
President Yameen made this remark in reply to a question asked by a journalist regarding the recent statements of former President Nasheed on “handing over the presidency to Gasim Ibrahim.”
President Yameen said that handing over power is an authority of the President and it is done during a special situation where the presidency gets vacant.
Regarding what the regime of Nasheed did with the MWSC, the President said that they sold it for 19 million while the company shares were with foreigners and then again sold it to 16 million for foreigners.
He said that he advocated against it while he was a member at the Peoples’ Majlis.
