Housing applications opens for persons with disabilities

People with disabilities can now apply separately for government housing under the “Housing for All” policy.
The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure said applications can be submitted under this special priority category through the Housing for All policy’s Family Housing Programme, via the dedicated portal from 1 April until 11:59 pm on 30 April.
The ministry noted that a separate housing category for persons with disabilities was previously announced, initially requiring only a single tick on the application form, and later revised in February to ease the eligibility criteria. Applicants must have lived in the Greater Male’ area for at least five consecutive years to qualify for housing.
Additional eligibility rules include consideration of financial situation, disability status, and recent treatment in the Greater Male’ area. The ministry said the details of the documents to be submitted when applying for flats in this category has been published in a gazetted notice. The aim is to ensure priority housing access for people with special needs, the ministry added.
A total of 100 flats have been reserved for this category. Applications can be submitted through the boahiyaavahikan.housing.gov.mv portal.
