Sheet piling work for Segment 2 of Boduthakurufaanu Magu development completed

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) announced today that the sheet piling work for Segment 2 of the project to develop the northern side of Male’s Boduthakurufaanu Magu into four lanes has been fully completed.
According to MTCC, 100% of the 260-meter sheet piling work in the second segment of this project is now finished. Additionally, 105 meters of quay wall capping concrete work has been completed, while 65% of the land reclamation work is also done. The second segment covers the local market (Bazaar) area.
Physical work to develop Boduthakurufaanu Magu to modern standards began on August 22 of this year. Under this project, which is divided into three segments, a total of 830 meters of road will be constructed, with sheet piling planned for 737 meters of that area. To date, work on the first segment has been completed and the area has been opened to the public.
Under this project, the northern side of Boduthakurufaanu Magu will be widened and converted into four lanes. Furthermore, from the Hulhumale’ Ferry Terminal to the Local Market, the road will be asphalted, and pavements and a drainage system will be established. Road marking and the installation of signboards will also be carried out.
The project, which is being implemented at a total cost of MVR 144,509,024.16, was awarded to MTCC in April of this year. It is expected that the completion of this work will provide significant relief to traffic on the northern side of Male’.
