Maldives Police Service on Sunday collected photographs and audio samples of Jumhoory Party (JP)’s leader Qasim Ibrahim after summoning him to headquarters in connection with the ongoing investigation into Qasim’s alleged bribery of parliament members.
Qasim is being interrogated regarding his earlier public promise of additional allowances to all lawmakers that voted in favour of the no confidence motion against Parliament Speaker Abdulla Maseeh in late March.
After the interrogation, Qasim told the press that he appreciates the professionalism shown by the police.
“Police are obligated to investigate a reported case. I appreciate their effort,” said Qasim.
Qasim reiterated that no matter what he is being accused of, he will remain true to the opposition leaders and will only stop after bringing a halt to the injustices of the government.
