Home Minister Azleen have said that investors invest in Dubai because Dubai has an enabling environment and Maldives should also be made a land of opportunity like that.
He made this statement while speaking at the ceremony held at Champa Central Hotel today to inaugurate South Asian Institute of Islamic Finance. Azleen said that it is a high priory for the president to make Maldives an enabling environment for investors. He said that today we are seeing that these plans are being implemented. He said that conventional financing and Islamic finance are two different things. “If it is the same thing, no reason why they have two different names” said the Minister.
Azleen said that since Maldives is a 100 percent Islamic nation, there is a huge demand for Islamic finance in Maldives. He noted that even though Islamic financing was introduced to Maldives just few years back, it has received huge support. In addition, he said that when financial institutes in Maldives increases it will be easy for investors and hence will assist in the development of the nation.
The minister said that Islamic Financing is a system that is well recognized around the world and there is no transaction that cannot be conducted through the system. He said that all Islamic banks of Maldives are proof of that.
Azleen said that Maldives is the first in many things and Maldives can be the first in Islamic Banking as well.
