A one-year-old girl being treated for dengue fever at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has died this morning. Haveeru has learned that the girl, Aishath INaz of Vanilla Ge, Haa Dhaal atoll Mahibadhoo, had died after being hospitalized on October 5. IGMH’s Media Coordinator Zeenath Ali Habeeb said that the child died at 6:05 am in the morning due to dengue shock syndrome. A person from Mahibadhoo said that dengue fever had been spreading throughout the island and that some children need to be brought to Male for medical care.
