Hinnavaru MP Ibrahim "Ibu" Mohamed Solih, the presidential candidate from the opposition coalition, commenced his campaign trip to the atolls of Laamu and Thaa on Sunday.
He is accompanied on his trip by Jumhooree Party (JP)'s deputy leader Dr. Hussain Rasheed, Adhaalath Party's deputy leader Ali Zahir, and Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom's 'Maumoon Reform Movement' (MRM), along with a number of other coalition members.
MP Ibu is scheduled to visit Thaa Atoll islands on Sunday and Monday, before heading to Laamu the following day. His is to return to capital Male on Wednesday.
The opposition candidate had previously visited Addu Atoll and Fuvahmulah in the south of Maldives, and Baa Atoll in the west for his campaign. During the visits, he had taken part in door-to-door activities, held rallies and inaugurated hubs for opposition-related activities ahead of the elections.
Meanwhile his running mate, Faisal Naseem of JP, is also making campaign trips to other atolls. He recently visited islands of Alif Dhaal Atoll with a team from the joint opposition.
