The Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, will depart to Maldives on March 17, on an official visit via invitation from the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.
During the visit, Minister Swaraj will call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the Speaker of Parliament and Jumhooree Party leader Qasim Ibrahim, and the Foreign Minister.
Furthermore, a joint ministerial meeting will be held to discuss cooperation on various matters concerning both nations.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both governments will discuss ongoing and future bilateral arrangements, including the implementation of agreed outcomes during President Solih's state visit to India.
In this regard, it is expected that discussions will focus on development cooperation, cooperation in the field of health, and enhancing people-to-people relationships.
Despite working closely with India to strengthen bilateral relations since his appointment, Minister Shahid asserted that Maldives does not favour any particular nation regarding diplomatic relations.
