Moosa criticizes Nasheed at MDP podium

Former chairperson of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and Vice-President of the Parliament Moosa Manik criticized former president Mohamed Nasheed.
Addressing in MDP meeting held at Alimas Carnival on 25 October 2014 evening, Moosa said that he resigned from party leadership to give opportunity for the young people, and that he expected same thing from other leaders.
Moosa noted that during his leadership, after talking and thinking about what was happening to the party, they decided to hand over the leadership of the party to young people and they stay at the back as responsible people. However, Moosa said that he resigned on behalf of everyone in the leadership because he thought that some people were a little reluctant in taking such step.
Moosa said that he was involved in MDP activities though he was not seen. By responding to some MDP members who criticizes him regarding not doing anything in relation to the Minivan News journalist Ahmed Rilwan’s disappearance, he said that he was someone who talked about those issues a lot. However, Moosa said that he doesn’t have anything to say against violence and mistreatment after seeing how MDP dealt with such cases in their government.
No one responded to Moosa’s address regarding MDP leadership in this meeting.
A lot of members among MDP leadership and other MDP members participated in the meeting.
